UM Ftball Tiger picked 11 of this week's 15 games correctly -- including 4 worth 29 points, but no perfect-margin 50s -- and also got 75 Bonus Points to rack up a total of 342, increasing his lead to 232 over Tailgater15. I also got 75 Bonus Points and moved up into 3rd place -- 41 points behind 2nd and 57 in front of 4th-place odu09, who benefited from getting 50 points for perfectly picking FIU's win over, you guessed it, ODU.
But this week was also pretty historic because BlazerEducator's all-lock pick strategy finally paid off! He won 6 this week, including four 79s (but no perfect-margin 100s), and also got 100 Bonus Points by picking Illinois to Win. His 346 total was the best of all this week's players. He was 1 point ahead of Knucklehead's 345, who got 14 of 15, three 29s and no Bonus Points.
Also unusual was that three of the four lowest-ranking contestants playing this week were the only ones to pick Illinois to win the Bonus Question, and thus were the only folks to get 100 Bonus Points this week. I also decided to look up the Bonus Question performance of the current Top 10 on the leaderboard. It's no surprise that UM Ftball Tiger has done the best so far (11 weeks), getting Bonus Points is all but three weeks. He's picked 4 correct Place finishers and 4 Shows, for a total of 500 Bonus Points. I'm next, with 7 Bonus Point weeks: 400 points on 2 Places and 5 Shows.
Four of the Top 10 got Bonus Points in 5 of the weeks ... all Shows. Tailgater15, who's 2nd on the leaderboard has only gotten BPs in 4 weeks, but one was a Place, so his total is 225. BlueRaider95 nabbed 4 Shows (200 points) and Tiki Owl was the least successful, with only 3 Shows (150).
Their 2nd and 6th place standings on the leaderboard is a tribute to the game-picking prowess of Tailgater 15 and Tiki Owl, respectively.
(I haven't (yet) done the much longer examination of all the games to see who's gotten the most 50-point perfect-margin results.)
