Tiki Owl and UM Ftball Tiger are tied just 4 points behind me in the leaderboard ... and we agree on the winners of 15 of this week's 16 games. The outlier: I picked USM to win @South Dakota; they favor the Coyotes. We also differ on our Bonus Question pick: I chose Middle Tennesse (Show), they picked Arkansas-Pine Bluff to place (UM Ftball Tiger) and show (Tiki Owl). >>> -- + + + -- <<<
After a gap of 76 points, three players are 16 points apart in 4th-6th place: techdawg88, 84SPORT & WKUFan518. techdawg differs from the top 3 in three games (Islanders over UTSA, Omaha over Rice & WKU over St. Mary's), while the other two differ with only one: 84SPORT: WKU over St. Mary's; WKUFan: Kentucky over UNC. While 84SPORT has the same bonus pick as mine, the other two could advance -- or fall back -- with theirs: techdawg: Islanders/Show; WKUFan: WKU/Show.>>> -- + + + -- <<<
32 points further down are three players separated by only 6 points: AEOS & jbkrmd (T7th-1231) and backbourt (9th-1225). And after a 59-point gap are monarchfan91 (10th-1166) and USM72 (11th-1163).

OK -- Who had Duke, A&M-Corpus Christi or Texas Tech as their Bonus Question win, place or show bet? Only #4 techdawg and #14 UnderMiner, who both had the Islanders to show. >> __ * * * __ << Duke made only 3 from beyond the arc ... 3-for-20 (15%)!! And they won! A&M-CC was 4-for-22 (18.2%) and Texas Tech connected on 5-for-16 3-pointers (31.3%). Meanwhile, Arkansas-Pine Bluff -- the choice of our #2 and #3 players (Tiki Owl & UM Ftball Tiger) -- shot 72.8% from downtown -- 7-for-9!! -- to finish assuredly out of this week's Bonus Question money after just one night of competition.

Many were within a point or two of Duke's final 11-point margin (after being behind the Red Raiders for much of the game), but only three -- UnderMiner, #27 crafdog and #32 Optimistic Owl -- nailed it perfectly. Congrats to them!!

Bonus question failures continued on Friday. Middle Tennessee, the "Show" choice of three of the current Top 7 on the leaderboard, shot 3s at a 10% higher percentage than its season average (35.7 vs. 25.2), making 5, which put them on the "Show" edge, joining Texas Tech. But in the day's final game, UTEP knocked both 5s out of the money, as it wiffed its 3s -- at home, no less -- at an astounding rate. The Miners sunk only 3 from downtown in its sad 15.8% 3-shooting performance, compared with its 36.1% season average. Of course, UTEP also lost its game with Norfolk State, a result picked only by USM72 (#10 on the current leaderboard).

Only one player in the current top 8 has a chance at Bonus Question points. That's WKUFan518 who, naturally, chose his Hilltoppers to have an especially weak 3-point-shooting performance Saturday when it hosts St. Mary's. They'll need to hit at most 4 (or perhaps even fewer) to give him 50 bonus points. Good luck to all!!
