There was some interesting action Thursday night: Only greenmac74 (#30 on the leaderboard) picked UTSA to whip LaTech … and few thought that UAB would beat visiting WKU, or that visiting FAU would top Rice (in the only-in-CUSA Battle of the Owls).

But the real fireworks were on the free throw lines in El Paso and Wichita, where homestanding UTEP and Wichita State attempted an astounding 37 and 35 freebies, respectively. Moreover, the Shockers’ opponent (Memphis) was close behind at 33 FTAs. (Were those refs in Wichita being paid by the whistle?) Just out of the money is LaTech (29).

This is good news for our leader, UM Ftball Tiger, because he chose Wichita State to “Place” in this week’s Bonus Question: Most Free Throw Attempts. BlazerHV, #5 on the leaderboard going into Thursday’s games, has the Shockers to Show, and jbkrmd (#10) has Miners to Show.

Quite a few others on the leaderboard, however, are hoping that West Virginia and WKU (who got only 8 FTAs at UAB tonight) spend a ton of time on the charity stripe on Saturday.
